ENDOMIX celebrates first publication!
We are proud to announce the release of the first publication from the ENDOMIX project! Titled “The ENDOMIX perspective:
EDCs are substances that can interfere with the hormonal functions of the body. Hormones are crucial for regulating various bodily processes, including growth, metabolism, and reproduction. EDCs can mimic, block, or alter the natural hormones, leading to potential health problems – such as developmental and reproductive disorders. Common EDCs include bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, dioxins, and certain pesticides.
ENDOMIX aims to comprehensively understand the impact of chemical mixtures on human health, using data from European cohorts and advanced scientific methods. By decoding the effects of endocrine disruptors, we will inform evidence-based policy-making and empower individuals with knowledge to make informed choices for their health and well-being.
Uncovering meaningful associations and causality between exposure to multiple EDCs and adverse health outcomes, leveraging robust data from European cohorts and advanced scientific methods.
Identifying specific EDC mixtures of concern that have significant health implications, allowing for a more precise understanding of the risks associated with certain chemical combinations.
Identifying biomarkers and exposure patterns to create easily measurable indicators indicative of health endpoints, contributing to a holistic approach to understanding and mitigating the health effects of EDCs.
Creating a unique evidence base for more informed policy-making and translating findings into actionable recommendations for individuals, policymakers, and society as a whole.

ENKORE brings together 5 different EU research projects which study different health impacts of EDCs. The cluster focuses on exploring and exploiting synergies between these projects from research questions to data analysis, and interoperability, to translating the science into policy by compiling findings and evidence and tracking the policy making process.
