New Study from ENDOMIX Project Links Prenatal Chemical Exposure to Eczema in Children
ENDOMIX has published an exciting new study on the Lina birth cohort, revealing the impact of prenatal exposure to phthalates and bisphenol A (BPA) mixtures on eczema risk in children. The ENDOMIX researchers found that individual phthalates are associated with increased eczema risk in boys who are atopic (predisposed to allergic conditions), while mixtures of phthalates and BPA affect both atopic and non-atopic children. The study also showed a positive trend between chemical exposure and immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels in atopic children, suggesting immune function modulation.
